Danville Area Community is sponsoring a photo excursion to Southern Illinois with Les Woodrum as your guide.

The trip is scheduled for October 21-23, 2014.

Come explore scenic Southern Illinois during the peak of the fall foliage color season with photographer Les Woodrum. The trip will include nightly classes and critiques of that day’s photo shoots.

Transportation, lodging and instruction fees are included in the price of the class. Cost of meals are extra. This photo opportunity is only $300.00 per participant.

Les Woodrum has photographed Southern Illinois since 1976. Early in his career, he was the scientific research photographer for The Illinois Natural History Survey, at which, part of his job was to document in photographs the natural beauty of all scenic areas of Illinois. Les spent many months in Southern Illinois photographing the many wonders. The tour will lead you to both the popular spots that people love to photograph, plus many lessor-known sights that only the “locals” know about.

For questions about this photo tour, contact Les Woodrum at
lesw@woodrum-media.com. To sign up, Call the DACC Community Education Department at 217-554-1668 or 217-554-1667

Adobe Lightroom

New Class offered at DACC

Les Woodrum recently completed Adobe certified training in Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 software and will offer a class at DACC this fall. Lightroom provides a comprehensive set of digital photography tools, from powerfully simple one-click adjustments to cutting-edge advanced controls. Create images that inspire, inform, and delight. Lightroom is becoming the photographer’s choice program in sorting and cataloging their photo collections. Besides cataloging and editing your photos, there are many retouching and photo manipulations that can be performed with this rather inexpensive program.

Class Schedule - Thursday nights - 6-8:00pm,

What Workshop do You Want?

Every year, I try to offer a photography workshop that you want. The most popular workshops in recent years have been one of the following:

  • A One-Day Studio Portrait Workshop
  • A Two-Day Traditional Black and White Darkroom Workshop
  • A One-Day Photo Tour of Western Indiana

Let me know what you would like me to offer, and I will try to set up the most requested workshop for this fall.

Upcoming Exhibits

Les will again be exhibiting photos at the annual Salt Fork River Arts Festival at Sleepy Creek Winery September 27-28.

The Salt Fork Show is always a good time to buy Leslie A. Woodrum art prints. Since this show is at the end of the outdoor art fair season, I will have most prints on sale for at least 25% off.

There are two locations currently in Danville that you can also view photos by Les Woodrum. The recently opened Mad Goat Coffee Shop has two photos on display (they had three but they sold one). The Mad Goat Coffee Shop is located at 2601 N. Vermilion. It is just north of the Custard Cup.

Also, the DACC Village Mall office has over 30 photos hanging on its walls. The DACC Mall office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dick Cunningham at Williamsport Waterfalls – © 2014

I have known the Cunningham brothers for over 40 years. I worked for Bill at Cunningham Photo back in 1977-78. I first met Dick right after he moved to Breckinridge, Co. around 1977. Dick has been a mentor and inspiration for me since my early days of printing his fantastic art prints back in the 70’s. Until recently, Dick did all of my color film processing and large format printing at his photo lab in Naples, FL. I had a recent opportunity to show Dick around to local Illiana scenic sites. I took him to the Williamsport Waterfall, the Potholes, and Portland Arch. I look forward to the opportunity to show him more hidden treasures of the Illiana area.
Camera – Canon T1-i w/10-22mm lens
